Herbal Facial Steam At Home

Herbal steam at home inner goddess DIY inhalation therapy rose lavender essential oils

When stress occurs, it manifests in our skin with eczema, acne and other skin conditions. Well-known in Spa treatments, herbal steaming is a great way to relax your skin and let go of the day.

Steaming your face will relax your muscles and open up you pores which releases the dirt more easily. After the inhalation steam, we recommend to apply a clay mask to close the pores and absorb the excess sebum. Few drops of essential oils will help to soothe and clear your mind. Other benefits include health blood circulation and deep breathing.

Here is how you can make your own facial steam and create a Spa-like experience at home:

1 tbsp dried lavender

1 tbsp dried rose petals

1 tbsp dried chamomile

5 drops geranium essential oil

Put about an inch of water in the bottom of a large pot and bring to a boil. Alternately, boil water in a tea kettle or pot and pour into a bowl.

Fold a towel in half and place it on a sturdy, heat-proof, flat surface like a counter or table.

Place the pot or bowl on top of this towel.Add the ingredients, stir well, and cover with a lid for 1-2 minutes.

Remove the lid and check the temperature of the steam to make sure it isn’t too hot for your face. Lean over the pot and cover your head with a towel to create a tent, letting as little air escape as possible.

Slowly breathe in the steam for up to 10 minutes. It is helpful to try to breathe in through the nose and out through the mouth at first and then eventually try to breathe in and out through the nose to loosen congestion.

For skin benefits, you can also wipe your face with a 50/50 mix of apple cider vinegar and water to tone skin and remove anything that has loosened from the pores.
